As I stood in line at a kiddie ride on the boardwalk I heard the inevitable "Mommy, I have to pee!" After I realized it wasn't one of my kids, I looked around for the mom doing the eye-roll as she quickly scanned for the nearest bathroom. Instead, I saw her smile and take her daughter a few feet away. There, she proceeded to take out of her bag a flat potty, pulled the legs down and sat her daughter on it in the stroller. Afterward, she tied up the white bag fastened inside the potty and threw it away. I was amazed and asked her what it was and where she got it.
That was a month ago. Finally, I was able to buy it this past friday and boy, am I glad I did! We used it three times on Saturday--twice on the beach and once on the ride home when I didn't want to deal with icky rest stop bathrooms.
It's called the Potette Plus and it's made by Kalencomm. The original Potette is available on Amazon for $10. You need to buy the liners too, which (on Amazon) come in packs of 10 for $5 (for the original) and $7 (for Plus). The liners fit easily over the seat and wrap around grooves on the legs. When not in use, the legs tuck under the seat so it lies flat. There is no way for the seat to get dirty and there is a little absorbent pad inside so liquid gets absorbed. There is also a nice little bag to carry it around in.
The Plus version allows for the legs to lie flat so that it can be set on a toilet. This is for when you want to potty train your kids on a toilet. The Plus costs $17--Buy Buy Baby didn't carry the original so I had to buy the Plus (thanks to my 20% coupon it came to $13.59) and $4.99 for the liners.
It is truly worth the money and a lifesaver when on the road or at outdoor events.
(I found the directions to be lacking, I almost tried to force the legs down--not knowing you have to pull on them to snap and then fold, so here's my directions:) To set up, you have to pull the legs out until they are flat and snap. Then, you draw the legs down into position. In this setting the legs won't move when your child sits on it. To fold down again, you have to pull each leg straight (in the direction perpendicular to the seat) until you hear a snap again and then you can tuck under.

you actually don't NEED to buy the liners. I use plastic grocery store bags (check for holes first) and throw in two paper towels. Does pretty much the same thing.

Thanks! You are RIGHT! I definitely do that when I run out of liners. But so many have holes it them that I get nervous. Another trick is to use a diaper in there instead of paper towels to soak up stuff.
keep the tips coming!!
